Delbert E. McKown, 82, a resident of Lake View, Iowa and formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa died Monday, October 4, 2004 at the Blackhawk Life Care Center in Lake View.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born May 14, 1922 in Creighton, Nebraska, the son of Arthur Clyde & Alma (English) McKown. On February 11, 1943, he was united in Marriage to Gladys M. Krueger in Creighton. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1975.
Delbert owned & operated Bettendorf Brake Service on Grant St. in Bettendorf for many years.
He was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9128 of Bettendorf and was a former Boy Scout Leader.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters & sons-in-law, Marcia & Steve Hummel of Lake View, Mardelle & Leroy Wulf of Durant, Iowa and Marla Kay & William Vessels of Rowlett, Texas; his son, Marv McKown of Hutchison, Kansas; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Lee McKown of Creighton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his son, Mark McKown; his sisters, Ila Mertl, Edith McKown and Mae McKown; and his brothers, Ivan, Lowell, Ervin & Orville.
