Delmar Albrecht

July 26, 1934 — April 5, 2013

Delmar Albrecht, 78, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home at Deerfield Senior Living Center in Urbandale, IA from complications from Parkinson's disease.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge.  There will be no visitation prior to the service.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church.  Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Delmar was born at home on July 26, 1934, the son of Franz and Elna Albrecht.  He graduated from Davenport High School where his favorite activity was playing trumpet.  He learned to operate heavy equipment when serving two years in the Army.  He married Helen Kuehl on July 15, 1956 and they lived on the farm together until moving to the Des Moines area in December 2009.
Delmar had a strong Christian faith which guided him throughout his life.  Delmar was involved with the Scott County Soil Commissioners and the Cattlemen's Association. He served on the board on the Eldridge Co-op and Central Trust and Savings Bank.  One of the great pleasures in his life was horses.  He particularly enjoyed all aspects of reining horses from training and competing to converting others to his passion.
Those left to honor his memory include daughters, Julie (Brian) Hart, Clive, IA, Denise (John) Wieland, Des Moines, IA, Theresa Albrecht Talmon, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Kevin Winslow, Valerin (Ashley) Morris, Joseph (Lyssa) Hart, Tim Wieland, Michael (Carah) Hart, Emily Wieland, and Brian Hart, and one great-grandchild, Landon Morris ; brother, Norbert (Sylvia) Albrecht,  sister, Evelyn (John) Shaff and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen.
