Delmar Henry Anthony Diedrick, 93, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Mesa, Arizona died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Kahl Home, Davenport.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:15 A.M. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Kahl Home Chapel, 6701 Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa and again from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service Monday at the Kahl Home Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Scott County Special Olympics.
Delmar was born April 22, 1919 in Dimmick Township, Illinois the son of Walter and Carrie (Kettmann) Diedrick. He was united in marriage to Eleanore Ossowski in La Salle, Illinois on November 25, 1943. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2004.
Delmar worked for International Harvester in East Moline for thirty-five years. He also worked part time at K’nees Florist, Moline, Illinois.
He was a long time member of Boy Scout Troop 109 in Moline, Illinois and enjoyed gardening, raising flowers “especially roses” and loved taking care of his yard.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Marcia (Richard) Johnson, Bettendorf and Janice Davis, Bettendorf; his son, Gary (Linda) Diedrick, Galena, Illinois; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Eleanore Diedrick, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lyle and Walter Diedrick.
