Delores Gapinski

Delores L. Gapinski, 78, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away peacefully and with dignity Thursday, January 13, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family.

Delores was born December 7, 1932 in Danville, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Mildred Dove. She was united in marriage to Richard A. Gapinski on February 23, 1956 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1968.

Delores was a dedicated and loving mother of three children that she raised independently. She was a loving and devoted “Nanny” to her grandson, Andrew who was her pride and joy and best friend that brought special meaning to her life. Delores worked as a secretary for twenty-two years for Schroder Insurance Agency, Bettendorf, Iowa. She also worked for Su Casa Family Restaurant, Bettendorf, Iowa for the past thirty years.

In her free time she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working outdoors and staying informed of current events. She loved all animals especially her beloved dog, Cheyenne. Delores was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all whom knew her. She was a mother, “Nanny”, grand-mother and good friend to all who knew her.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Denise (Randy Junker) Hostetler, Burlington, Iowa; her son Douglas (Jennifer) Gapinski, East Moline, Illinois; her very special grandson, Andrew Hostetler and her step-grandchildren, Omar, Adrianna, Melanie and Gasper.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Richard M. Gapinski and her brother, Don Dove.
