Dennis W. Jones

Dennis W. Jones, 83, of Eldridge passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Mercy One Genesis, Davenport.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Memorials may be directed to the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department.

Dennis was born on July 28, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Dean and Mary (Barnes) Jones. Dennis worked as a machine operator for 22 years at Caterpillar. He then served as head custodian at North Scott High School for 14 years prior to his retirement in 2003. Dennis loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing, hunting, or camping. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and camping on the Wapsi with his friends and his son. Dennis will be remembered for his jovial laugh and his love for family.

Those left to honor his memory are his sons, Donald (Betsy) Jones of Eldridge and Brian (Julie) Froelich of Wilton; four grandchildren, Amanda (Tyler) Smith, Dalton (Brittany) Stout, Eli Jones, and Katelyn (Isaac) Holst; great-grandson, Holden Smith; sister, Sandra Feeney of Solon; and former sons-in-law, Gary (Melody) Kaasa of Davenport and Randy (Melinda) Stout of California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Kaasa; and sister, Bonnie Yoke.
