Dennis Smith

Dennis W. Smith, 62, of Park View, IA, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at his home.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Park View Lutheran Church, Park View, where he was a member. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Park View Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or Genesis Hospice.
Dennis was born July 21, 1943 in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Paul & Evelyn (Applegate) Smith. He was united in marriage to Dorcas Ensor on February 23, 1964 in Attica, Iowa.
Dennis worked for U-Haul in various positions for 10 years in Omaha, Nebraska. After moving to Park View in 1975, he joined Lincoln National Life Insurance as an agent. He spent the last 25 years as a financial consultant for his business, Financial Security Services.
Dennis was very active in his church where he taught Sunday school and confirmation classes. He coached freshman, sophomore, and varsity
basketball for North Scott High School for 10 years. He also belonged to the Quad-City Bicycling Club.
He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and bicycling.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorcas; daughter Amanda, and husband Adam Ahrens, of Rock Island, Illinois; son Darren and wife Thanom Smith, of Barglamung,Thailand; granddaughter, Amita; his mother, Evelyn Smith of Knoxville, Iowa whose loving care will always be remembered; sisters, Carol and husband,
Larry Schurman, and Mary Smith and husband, Dave Rutter; brother, Jeff and wife, Amy Smith.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Paul Smith; and by his grandparent
