Dennis K. Lenninger, 69, a resident of Bettendorf died Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Genesis Medical Center, West Campus.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois with military honors provided by American Legion Post 1233, Colona, Illinois. Those wishing to attend the service will gather at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf at 10:00 A.M. Thursday. Visitation will be held form 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Disabled American Veterans.
Dennis was born February 15, 1940 in Washington, Iowa the son of Richard William and Emily Marie (Hovel) Lenninger. He was a graduate of Bettendorf High School. He was united in marriage to Christine Vroman in Moline, Illinois on October 14, 1963.
Dennis worked for many years as a foundry worker at Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf and later worked at Oscar Mayer Co. in Davenport.
He loved cars, enjoyed car shows and muzzle loading guns. He was also an amazing pinstriper.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Christine; his daughter, Lisa Barnett of Davenport and her special friend Doug Ruprecht; his son, Scott (Amy) Lenninger of Eldridge; his grandson, Ryan Barnett; his sisters Sharon Lenninger of Dewitt, Iowa, Nancy (Richard) Shaffer of Davenport, Debbi Larson of Davenport and Robin Willers of Davenport and his brother Terry M (Marcia) Lenninger of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dennis’ family would like to extend a special thanks to Kimberly and Shelly, Dennis’ nurses in the ICU at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus.
