Diana A. Spring

April 10, 1933 — March 3, 2025

LeClaire

Diana Augusta (Drechsler) Spring, 91, of LeClaire, Iowa passed peacefully into eternity on Monday, March 3, 2025. She passed in the presence of her family at 2:20 p.m. at Harmony Utica Ridge after sustaining a broken hip following a fall in her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at LeClaire Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday morning at the church. Diana, the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Haessler) Drechsler, was born in Davenport, Iowa on April 10, 1933. Diana graduated from LeClaire High School and, following in her mother’s footsteps, pursued a teaching degree at Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught for one year before marrying her next-door neighbor and high school sweetheart, Vernon Carl Spring, on June 11, 1955.

Diana and her husband were founding members of LeClaire Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities, including teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the LeClaire Civic Club, Alcoa Retirees Club, LeClaire Community Library, and Republican Women. Her patriotism was second only to her dedication to being an ambassador for Jesus Christ. A devoted student of the Bible, she walked the Christian path daily and supported many Christian organizations and missionaries through charitable giving and service. For over thirty years, she and her family made annual summer trips to Iowa Regular Baptist Camp in Ventura, Iowa, a tradition that later included her grandchildren.

A lifelong resident of LeClaire, Diana was deeply involved in her community while also maintaining a busy and loving home. She is fondly remembered by her grandchildren for her beautifully decorated angel food birthday cakes, always topped with her mother’s signature frosting recipe, as well as for her countless batches of sugar cookies. She was also a talented artist, passing on her love of art to many of her grandchildren.

Diana is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Moore of Princeton, Iowa; her sister, Delores M. Ewoldt of Davenport, Iowa; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Spring and Roberta (Don) Meiner of Michigan; her brother-in-law, Robert (Karen) Spring of Davenport; her son-in-law, Chad Faux; six grandchildren: Chad (Britt) Freeborn, Nicole Freeborn, Terrie Spring, Thomas (Flannery) Moore, Skylar (Sidhartha) Moore, and Cheyenne Moore; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Carl Spring; her daughter, Vicky Faux; her granddaughter, Rachael Anne Moore; and her parents, Frank and Mildred Drechsler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LeClaire Baptist Church.
