Dick Jenkins, 77, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 surrounded by his beloved family.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church of Eldridge where he was a member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born March 24, 1934 in Manly, Iowa the son of McKinley & Gertrude (Ohland) Jenkins and was a graduate of Manly High School. He was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Garlock on December 20, 1952 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Dick was employed by the Continental Baking Company from 1955 until his retirement in 1995. From 1995 until 2003, he was employed by the North Scott Community School District as a custodian.

He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and in earlier years, enjoyed bowling. Dick was a hard worker, a devoted husband, loving dad, grandpa & great-grandpa who always put his family first.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Nancy; his children, Pam (Dean) Engelbrecht of Davenport, Iowa and Kevin (Debbie) Jenkins of Eldridge; his grandchildren, Darin (Shelli) Engelbrecht of Davenport, Deena (Phil) Dhuse of Marseilles, Illinois, Lindsay (Chad) Holdorf of Grimes, Iowa and Kelsey Jenkins of Dubuque, Iowa; his great-grandchildren, Dylan & Nolan Engelbrecht of Davenport and Lindy Jane & Caston Dhuse of Marseilles, Illinois; his sister, Delores Fredrickson of Northwood, Iowa; along with several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
