Dimple V. Raven, 95, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at her home in Bettendorf.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, February 14, 2009 at First Assembly of God Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the services on Saturday at the church. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
A second Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 16, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Memorials may be made to the family.
Dimple was born March 24, 1913 in Waltonville, Illinois, the daughter of Orval & Grace (Palmer) Rector. She was united in marriage to Elmer Raven on August 24, 1931 in Webster City. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1988.
Dimple was very active at the First Assembly of God Church in Bettendorf and was also active in Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City where she had been Treasurer for over 30 years. She had volunteered at Life’s Little Treasures Gift Shop in Bettendorf and at the Hamilton County Hospital gift shop for many years.
Never having known a stranger, Dimple was a friend to all. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Charlotte Kay Schleisman, of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Mark (Kim) Schleisman, Scott (Tammy) Schleisman, Brent (Sue Ellen) Schleisman, Rory Raven, Rhett (Leah) Raven and Amber (Levi) Smith; her great-grandchildren, Aaron, Elle Anna, Irelen, Danielle, Eric, Andrew and Piper; her great-great grandson, Cody; her daughter-in-law, Judy (Eldon) Pigsley; and her sisters, Neva Heitland, Helen Gresslin, Betty Jansonius and Dee Seibold.
In addition to her husband, Elmer, Dimple was preceded in death by her parents; her son Ronald; her sister, Thelma; and her son-in-law, Lloyd.
