Dixie Lee Maurer, 82, a resident of Princeton, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Manor Care on Locust St. in Davenport.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on May 12, 1932 in Bucklin, Missouri, Dixie was the daughter of Lester E. and Evelyn Kathrine (Riggir) Long. She married John Boesch. They later divorced. She then married Alan Maurer. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2011.
Dixie was a beautician, having her own shop in her home while living in LeClaire and Wilton. Dixie and Al lived in Florida for over twenty-five years. She enjoyed boating and being on the river. Dixie cherished her time spent with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Deborah Ackerman of Urbana, Illinois and John Alan (Holly) Boesch of Woodbury, Minnesota; three grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Jacobs of Mistic, Missouri, Kay (Jack) Allbee of Commanche, Sandra Randoulph of LeClaire, Cherol Summers of DeWitt and Carol Hartz of DeWitt; and brothers, Randy Long of Davenport and Sam Long of Princeton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Phillip; and sister, Leila Walsh.
