Dolores E. “Dodie” Hampton, 89, a resident of Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge, Iowa died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Grand Haven.
Private family services will be held at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Jane’s Place at CASI in Davenport.
She was born in Burlington on December 21, 1931, the daughter of Marion E. “Mac” and Mary Margaret “Peggy” (Roxlau) Watson and was a 1950 graduate of Burlington High School. Later that year, she was united in marriage to Raymond J. Hampton in Burlington.
Dodie was employed as a bookkeeper at Goodyear Tires in Burlington and later, at Tivol’s Jewelry Store in Kansas City, Missouri. She was an accomplished bead stringer and enjoyed stringing pearls for many years for many appreciative clients.
As much as she loved her work, her greatest love was her family. She treasured being a mother of two, a grandmother of five and a great-grandmother of seven.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Steve (Linda) Hampton of Bettendorf and Mike (Venita) Hampton of Davenport, Iowa; her grandchildren, Lorrie (Justin) Peeters, Darcy (Matt) Peik, Mark Hampton, Sarah (Stu) Honn and Jennifer Hampton; and her great-grandchildren, Isabel, Hannah, Drew, Libby, Emmy, Henry and Ahren.
Her brother, Robert Watson preceded her in death.
