Dolores L. Flick

Dolores Lucille Flick, 93, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 8, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was born December 11, 1916 in Swedona, Illinois, the daughter of Dallas & Ida (Petrie) Rhodenbaugh. On December 12, 1937, she was united in marriage to Conrad A. “Connie” Flick in Kahoka, Missouri and they were married for 69 years. Connie preceded her in death on October 27, 2006.
On May 1, 1953, she & her husband started Flick’s at 3715 State St. in Bettendorf. They operated the business for many successful years, retiring in May of 1980. Dolores & Connie enjoyed many winters at the Citrus Village Retirement Community in LaFeria, Texas where she served as the social chairman planning many outings, meals & other events for their many friends.
Dolores was an amazing cook and loved to prepare lunch for everyone including sales reps and customers. Her lunches became a scheduled stop for many. Her family fondly remembers her wonderful rice pudding, apple and sour cream raisin pies that they enjoyed for many years.
She enjoyed watching baseball, playing the organ and in earlier years, boating on the river with her family.
Her memberships included the Bettendorf Order of the Eastern Star where she was a 50-year member and Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Dennis Flick of Bettendorf and grandchildren, Tim Flick, Teresa “Renee” Stafford & Ryan Flick; her son, Lee Flick of Bettendorf and grandchildren, Brookanne & Annalee Flick; and her son, Conrad (Lynn) Flick III of Bettendorf and grandchildren, Amber (Ryan Cady) Flick and Andy (Melissa) Flick; her great-granddaughters, Kaitlynn (Amber) & Lauren (Tim); and her great-grandson, Andrew (Renee); and her sister-in-laws, Mary Rhodenbaugh of Sherrard, Illinois, Katherine Schmidt of Rock Island, Illinois and Trudy Groth of Laguna Beach, California.
In addition to her husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy; and her brothers, Ray, Eugene & Dean Rhodenbaugh.
