Dolores J. "Lori" Bowers, 86, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf where she was a member. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be held following the service at the church. Private inurnment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, or a charity of your choice. Dolores was born July 1, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Erwin & Alma (Beyers) Jourdan. She was united in marriage to Don C. Bowers on October 29, 1949 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Dolores was the Activity Coordinator at Bettendorf Health Care for many years. She had also worked as a legal assistant and as an office assistant for the Alliance for Mental Health of Rock Island County.
She was an avid bowler for many years, having won several awards in various leagues. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Don; her daughters, Teresa Murray of Bettendorf, Deborah Bowers of Davenport and Melinda Bowers of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Megan Murray, Nick Murray and Kory Bowers; her great-grandchildren, Hanna Murray, Rayne Murray and Kandace Murray, Dominick Murray; her brother, Carl Jourdan; her niece, Karen "Jourdan" Voss; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Louise Mayes, Dorothy Glantz and Shirley Allee; and her brother Erwin Jourdan.
