Don D. Pogue, 77, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at his residence.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 13, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport, where he was a member. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Don was born January 22, 1933 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the son of Stanley & Ethel (Garman) Pogue. He graduated from high school in Decatur, Illinois and earned his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Business Administration from Millikin University in Decatur in June of 1954.
Don was united in marriage to Janet M. Mueller on June 13, 1954 in Decatur. He then served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged.
Don and Janet raised their family in Naperville, Illinois. He was employed as a Regulatory Manager for the former Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Chicago. They then retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1994 and then moved to Bettendorf in 2009.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Janet; his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Bob Gaster of Bettendorf, Cindy & Dave Harms of Iowa City, Iowa and Donna & Loran Ruhnow of Spring, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Glenn & Molly Pogue of Taylor Lake Village, Texas; his grandchildren, Adrienne (Tristan) Agre, Claire (Chad) Walker, Jacob Gaster, Eric Harms, Jeff (Amanda) Ruhnow, Angela Ruhnow, Bethany Ruhnow, Megan Pogue, Brandon Pogue and Sandi Pogue; his great-grandchildren, Aliya Agre and Selah Agre; and his sister, Ella Guymon of Decatur.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sisters, Esther Reynolds and Eva Thatcher; and his brother, Dale Pogue.
