Donald Mccoy

Donald P. “Butch” McCoy, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 in Davenport, Iowa.

He was born in Bettendorf on November 10, 1936, the son of John Joseph and Elvia Leatha (Welch) McCoy.  Following his graduation from Bettendorf High School, Donald served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Special Forces during the Korean Conflict.  He was honorably discharged in 1958.

In 1982, he was united in marriage to Carol D. Grobmann in Miami, Florida.  She preceded him in death on December 28, 2016.

Donald worked for many years at the former Plaza Bowl North in Bettendorf and enjoyed retirement years in Florida.  During his spare time, he loved bowling and was an avid fan of NASCAR.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Becky McCoy in California, Reesa (James) Staten in California, Michelle Watkins in Florida, Margaret (Willie) Fonticiella in Florida, Nicole (Lucas Lenane) Aubin of Bettendorf, Bill Sebolt in Florida, Gary Aubin in Florida and Jeff (Therese) Aubin in Florida; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his wife, Donald was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad-Cities.
