Donald E. Garretson

Donald. E. Garretson, 64, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.
Donald was born June 20, 1942 in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Dale and Alice (Kerton) Garretson. On February 3, 1962, he was united in marriage to Linda L. Walters in Independence, Iowa.
Donald worked as a welder for the former J.I. Case Company in Betendorf and after retirement, owned a small construction company working with his son Rick.
Donald enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers, sporting events, carpentry and building bird houses and feeders. He was loved by everyone and would do anything for anyone. He especially loved watching his grand-boys.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda: his daughter, Julie Allbee and her husband Don of LeClaire, Iowa: his sons, Rick Garretson of Bettendorf and Randy Garretson and his wife Michelle of LeClaire: his sisters, Roberta Schimek of Waterloo, Iowa and Alberta Conrad of Independence, Iowa: seven grandchildren: and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Janel Andersen and his parents.
