Donald R. McConoughey, 77, a resident of Bettendorf died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday May 5, 2008 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church or the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa.
Donald was born August 6, 1930 in Moline, Illinois the son of Owen and Geneveive (Fry) McConoughey. He was united in marriage to Charline Leffler on May 5, 1956 in Rock Island, Illinois.
Donald was the past owner of Don & Ray Hair Stylist, Walcott Mobile Home Park and Soapy Suds Car Wash. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Bettendorf VFW Post 9128.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing with his grandkids.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Charline; his daughters Tamra (Michael Carron) McConoughey of Davenport, Tracy (Brian) Kinman of East Moline, Illinois, Lisa (Jim) Wooldridge of Davenport and Valorie (Matt) Smith of Taos New Mexico; his grandchildren, Amber Smith, Gabrielle Smith and Charlie Wooldridge; his brothers, Vince McConoughey of East Moline, Jack McConoughey of Fort Myers, Florida and Donald’s identical twin Ray McConoughey of Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Donald McConoughey, his granddaughter, Nicole Wooldridge and his brother, Joe McConoughey.
