Donald V. Paustian

Donald V. Paustian, 66, a resident of rural Eldridge, Iowa died Sunday, December 26, 2004 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge where he was a member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department or to the Oncology Unit of Genesis Medical Center. Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born November 5, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Vernon & Mildred (Claussen) Paustian and was a 1956 graduate of Bettendorf High School. On September 21, 1963, he married the former Barbara L. Meyer in Eldridge.
Don owned & operated Paustian Brothers Trucking Company for 36 years. He also farmed a small acreage as well.
He loved his work, enjoyed farming, gardening, raising pumpkins and caring for his beloved Chevy. In his leisure time (which wasn’t very often) he also going fishing. Don’s family & many friends were the center of his life and his memory will live forever with those who knew & loved him.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Barbara; his daughters, Lana Stemler of Huntington, Connecticut, Lisa Ruschill of Rockford, Illinois, Lori Paustian of Davenport and Linette Cudd & her husband, Rick of Davenport; his grandchildren, Brandon, Paige, Alex, Derick & Shayla; his sister, Darlene Williams & her husband, Larry of Bettendorf; and his brothers, Dallas Paustian & his wife, Susan of Riverdale, Iowa, Danny Paustian & his wife, Claire of Bettendorf and Dean Paustian of Eldridge.
Don was preceded in death by his infant sister, Diane; and by his parents.
