Donna Jane Dahlin, 81, of rural Eldridge, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Trinity Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo, Iowa. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday October 4th at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge and from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to her granddaughter, Bryana Weispfenning, for her cancer treatment fund through Ascentra Credit Union.
Born on May 12, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa, Donna was the daughter of Cletus and Frances (Billings) Ockert. On August 1, 1954 in Burlington, Donna married Darrel Dahlin.
Donna volunteered as a church secretary for First Presbyterian Church in LeClaire, Grace Methodist Church in Clinton and later for Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo. She was a Sunday school teacher and belonged to Church Women United, PTA and was a Cub Scout den mother. Donna and Darrel opened their home to 26 foster children. Her most beloved hobby was quilting. She enjoyed making clothes, antiquing and her time wintering in Texas. Donna cherished her time spent with family.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Darrel; son, Douglas (Brenda Randolph) Dahlin of Davenport; daughter, Dyannae (Tim) Dahlin Ruser of Princeton; eight grandchildren, Dexter, Dustin, Kyle, Bryana, Aric, Delyn , Kaidance and Erin and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles “Bill” (Pat) Ockert of Tampa, Florida and John (Sandi) Ockert of Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, David and Dean.
