Doris L. Ellison, 80, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at her home following a long courageous battle with ALS.
Funeral services will be held at at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice or the A.L.S. Foundation.
She was born January 17, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles H. & Isal Rea (Vest) Clifton. On August 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold W. Ellison in Davenport.
In earlier years, Doris was employed in sales at Sears, Roebuck & Co. and as a salad maker at the former Bishops Cafeteria in downtown Davenport.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Harold; her daughters & sons-in-law, Gail & Thomas Olsen of Davenport, Patricia & Charles Holm of Geneseo, Illinois, Marjorie & Timothy Spehar of Grand Junction, Colorado, Deborah & Joseph Banaszek of Davenport, LaVonne Banaszek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Connie Bailey of DeWitt, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sisters & brothers-in-law, Louise & Kenneth Spranger of Davenport and Carolyn & Harold “Ike” Hofstetter of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Doris was preceded in death by her grandson, James; her great-grandson, Brandon; her sisters, Marge Clifton and Roma Barricklow; and by her brothers, Charles, Bill, Mason, Bob & Jason Clifton.
