Dorothy Behrens

Dorothy A. Behrens, 82, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at the Walcott Cemetery in Walcott. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dixon American Legion.

Dorothy was born on December 12, 1929 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Boyd E. and Modesta (Yeggey) Ziegler. On May 21, 1949 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport, she married Lester Behrens.

Dorothy enjoyed ceramics, cooking and baking.  She also enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Lester Behrens; three sons, Bob Behrens of Walcott, Bill (Debbie) Behrens of Buffalo and Dennis (Kathy) Behrens of Donahue; seven grandchildren, Shelley Behrens, Sharon Todd, Timothy Behrens, Samantha Ridenour, Garry Behrens, Matthew Behrens and Stryder Behrens; ten great- grandchildren, Lauren, Arianna, Andrew, William, Nyle, Nathan, Malisha, Ryan, Christian and Peyton; one great-great grandson, Marcus; two sisters, Mary Connell of Davenport and Verna Fell of Bettendorf.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Garry Behrens.
