Dorothy E. (Bohlmeyer) Bloom, 87, of Blue Grass, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Unity Point Trinity Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will follow at Blue Grass Cemetery in Blue Grass. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for various charities.
Dorothy was born to John Lietz and Mary Bohlmeyer in Sac City, Iowa on October 30, 1927. On March 12, 1947, she married Harold J. Bloom at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport. A feisty, down to earth homemaker, Dorothy loved Bingo, working Sunday’s Bonanza Bill Crossword Puzzle, Country Music and, most of all, fishing!
Those left to honor her memory include: her children, Barbara (Lou Ritter) Olsen of Blue Grass, Bernice (Arlyn) Koeppe of Stockton, James (Janice) Bloom of Montpelier Township, and John (Pam Spears) Bloom of Blue Grass; grandchildren, Denise (Lee), Brad, Brian (Lisa), Michael, (Becky), Jason, Jeromy (Lucy), Jennifer, Jodi (Bill); great-grandchildren, Jessica (Justin), Jamie (Marshall), Brandon (Maria), Kelsey, Skyler, Steven, Austin, Riley, Damion; great-great-grandchildren, Dylan, Caylie, Jackson, Analisa, James (due September); brother, Elderd Leitz; and niece, Nancy (Don) Ferkel.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Zachary; granddaughter, Lisa Marie; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Dorothy’s family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and Trinity Bettendorf and to Dr. Kettelkamp and his staff for the wonderful care given to Dorothy.
