Dorothy E. Curler, 77, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa formerly of Dubuque, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at her home.

Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Grandview Baptist Church, 4316 N. Ripley St., Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Private burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Bettendorf Church of the Nazarene or Samaritan’s Purse (a Franklin Graham Ministry). McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy was born March 10, 1933 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Alfred and Edith (Merz) Schiers.

Dorothy spent many years as a caregiver in Freeport, Illinois. She was a devoted mom and loved spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them about Jesus.

She was a very active member of Bettendorf Church of the Nazarene. She was a “Prayer Warrior” who held weekly bible studies in her home and sponsored needy children in foreign countries. She truly loved the Lord and looked forward to His coming. Her greatest desire was to see the lost saved.

She is survived by six children, her daughters, Christine (Bill) Raeder, Bettendorf, Iowa, Karen (Randy) Healy, Winnebago, Illinois, Vickie (Carl) Vosberg, Marietta, Georgia, Diana (Sanford) Sands, Lutts, Tennessee, and Sherry Curler, Dubuque, Iowa; her son, Arnold (Linda) Curler, Freeport, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Mae Fritschel, Mount Vernon, Washington and her twin brother, Donald Schiers, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Lynn Loso and her brothers, Vic Schiers, Buck Schiers and Chuck Schiers.
