Dorothy Ellis

On May 4, 2021, Dorothy M. Ellis passed away at the age of 102.  She passed peacefully in her own home in Bettendorf, Iowa with family present.

Born on June 12, 1918 in Marion County, Missouri, Dorothy married Raymond Ellis in November of 1938.  Originally residing in Hannibal, Missouri, they moved to Davenport, Iowa, where they raised their three children.  Later moving to Bettendorf, where Dorothy continued to reside for her remaining years.

Dorothy was a loving wife, exceptional mother of three, an ever present, loving, caring and devoted grandmother, and great grandmother.   She instilled her entire family with a true and lasting love of family. Dorothy always offered a hospitable and welcoming home for everyone, and maintained her keen sense of humor until the day she died.

In her last moments of life, she worried only of her children and grandchildren, never herself.

She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and one sister.  She is survived by her three children, Karen Hronek, Nancy Kelser, and Gary Ellis; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a private visitation on Friday, May 7th, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf followed by a graveside service at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
