Dorothy E. Goettsch, 84, of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf.  She will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous.

She was born on August 14, 1930 in rural Bettendorf, the daughter of Howard & Elsie (Blake) Meinert and she was a graduate of Davenport High School.

On June 17, 1950 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Hans H. Goettsch at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport.  He preceded her in death on August 29, 2012.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be fondly remembered as supportive of her family.  Dorothy was proud of her farming heritage and she enjoyed gardening and tending to her yard.

Dorothy & Hans loved to dance, enjoyed traveling and spent many warm enjoyable winters in Arizona, Florida and Texas where they made many wonderful friends over the years.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Gretchen (Nils) Steiger of Hillsdale, Illinois and Jennifer (Pat) Redmond of Goodyear, Arizona; her sons, Hans L. Goettsch of Peoria, Arizona, Fred E. (Pamela) Goettsch of Bettendorf, George A. (Joetta) Goettsch of Bettendorf and Paul H. Goettsch of Bettendorf; twenty-one grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her brothers, Randy (Phyllis) Meinert and Foster (Marsha) Meinert of Davenport; and her brother-in-law, Herb Goettsch of Bettendorf.

In addition to her husband, Hans, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Lavonne Perkins and Lois Boeh; and her brother, Norm Meinert.
