Dorothy Hurt

Dorothy J. Hurt, 93, of Bettendorf, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Malta Cemetery in Malta, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Health Facility or to a charity of the Donor’s choice.

Dorothy was born September 18, 1917 in Dixon, Illinois, the daughter of Charles & Sadie (Sarver) Schwab. She was united in marriage to Clarence W. Hurt on July 29, 1934 in Morrison, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1973.

Dorothy had worked for many years at the Annie Wittenmeyer Home and at the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Beverly (Kenneth) Lind of Waterloo, Iowa and Connie (Dennis) Tooley of Rochester, Minnesota; her sons, Roger (Joanne) Hurt of Moline, Illinois, Delbert (Kathy) Hurt of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gary (Donna) Hurt of Dubuque, Iowa and Douglas (Carol) Hurt of Griffith, Indiana; twenty grandchildren; and thirty-six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Horace Edward and Robert Laverne Schwab; and her granddaughter, Debbie Bonilla.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility and Genesis Hospice for the care and comfort that they had given Dorothy.
