Dorothy Otero

Dorothy E. Otero, 93, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Bettendorf Health Care Center in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Monday at church. Memorials may be made to your local animal shelter. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on February 26, 1924 in What Cheer, Iowa, Dorothy was the daughter of William and Mary (Day) Rea. On August 1, 1946 in Iowa City, she married Frank F. Otero. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Dorothy had a passion for animals and always had a smile on her face. She cherished her time spent with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Judy (Frank) Whipple, Bennie Otero, and Larry (Sue) Otero, all of Bettendorf; step-daughter, Sherry Myers of Rock Island; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Kay Kono and Elizabeth Lang.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; step-children, Danny Otero and Ruth Smith; brothers, David, William and Warren; sisters, Margaret, Frances and Eleanor; step-brothers, Robert and Matthew.
