Dorothy L. Stanley, 95, of Pleasant Valley, died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley. We pray she is now in a peaceful home of her own.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy was born April 19, 1921, in Davenport, the daughter of Earnest J. and Dollie E. (Bindewald) Stanley. For years, Dorothy provided daily care of her sister’s children, and many more years caring for her mother.
She was the accounting manager at the former Parkers Department Store in Davenport prior to joining the Department of the Army Payroll at the Rock Island Arsenal.
Those left to honor Dorothy’s memory include her sisters, Elva Gauper, Lakewood, Colo., and Donna L. “Bebe” Curtis, Bellevue, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, LaVerna Brunk, Vivian Stevens-Olson, Earnest E. Stanley and Jeannie Sieh.
