Dorothy Thomas-Vance, 80, a resident of Princeton, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at Davenport Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Davenport Lutheran Home or Hospice Compassus.
Born September 11, 1934 in Davenport, Dorothy was the daughter of Louis and Hazel (Wadsworth) Hennings. In 1953, she married Richard Reeves. They later divorced. In 1973, she married Wayne Thomas. He preceded her in death in 1996. On November 26, 2006, she married Donald Vance.
Dorothy was a secretary at Peterson Plumbing, Linquist Ford, and also worked at Walgreens. After retiring, she worked as an in-home care provider through the State of Illinois. She was a member of the White Shrines and The String of Pearls, and a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church, where she tirelessly donated her time. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, dancing, and crocheting. Dorothy cherished spending time with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Donald; Daughter, Susan Renay (Dennis) Justman of Davenport, Iowa; Sons, Richard (Patricia) Reeves of LeClaire, Iowa, and David Joe (Pennie) Reeves of Camanche, Iowa; Step-daughter, Rebecca Thomas of Houston, Texas; Step-Son, Christopher Thomas of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Brothers, Roger Hennings of Moline, Robert (Peg) Hennings, and Russ (Hope) Schroeder both of Davenport, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first two husbands, and a sister, Francine Welsh.
