Dorothy L. Coffelt, 95, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
She was born April 5, 1915 in Donahue, Iowa, the daughter of Otto & Hilda (Schlotfeldt) Matzen. On September 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to Theodore F. Coffelt in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1978.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mom & homemaker and a long-time member of the former St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of Davenport. She enjoyed playing cards with her many friends and in earlier years, was an avid bowler.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Sharon Jaeger of Camarillo, California; her sons, Wayne Coffelt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Michael (Wanda) Coffelt of Elkland, Missouri and Gary (Francet) Coffelt of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Don Jaeger; her sister, Elaine Paustian; and her brothers, Norman Matzen and Allyn “Pinky†Matzen.
