Dorothy R. Picha

Dorothy Picha, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, left the world surrounded by the love of her family and friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 22, 2007 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home. Private committal services will be held at a later date at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorials may be made towards a fund to be established to plant a tree at the Rock Island National Cemetery in her memory.
Dorothy was born March 2, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Thomas & Estelle (Waraxa) Murach. She was united in marriage to LeRoy E. Picha on March 2, 1954 in Davenport, Iowa. Dorothy had been employed for over 32 ½ years at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Contract Specialist. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf for over 52 years.
Dorothy was very proud of her Polish ancestry and could tell a Polish joke with the best of them. She loved people of all backgrounds, faith, color and creed and no one was a stranger to her. She loved traveling, fishing, camping, music, dancing and writing letters.
Those left to honor her memory include the love of her life, her husband of 53 years, LeRoy; her daughter and son-in-law, Rose & John Lensing; her grandchildren, Julie Lensing Grimm and her husband Aaron, Chris Lensing, Kyle Picha, and April Lensing, who were all her pride and joy; and her two great-grandchildren, Justis and Cullen Lensing. She had many special friends especially Nancy Thobe and Judith Belfer as well as other friends and neighbors who she cared deeply about.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Terri Picha; and two sisters.
