Dottie J. McIllece, 61, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 6, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She was born December 15, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Charles W. & Marjorie E. (Stegall) Leslie. She was united in marriage ot Michael E. McIllece in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dottie was a loving wife, mother & grandmother. She loved to cook, enjoyed traveling on cruise ships and enjoying gourmet food. In addition, she spent many enjoyable hours sewing and other crafts. Her grandchildren were the special joy in her life and she treasured the times spent with them.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Michael; her daughters & sons-in-law, Terry Hughes of Bay Minnette, Alabama, Debora Miller of Davenport, Cathy & Pat Gustafson of Clarksville, Tennessee and Wendy & Marc Lewis of Davenport; her son & daughter-in-law, Eric & Janine McIllece of Blue Grass, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; her father (who raised her), Aldo Bernado of Summersdale, Alabama; her sister & brother-in-law, Patricia & Orville Capps of Memphis, Tennessee; and her brother & sister-in-law, Donnie & Marylyn Bernado of Foley, Alabama.
Dottie was preceded in death by her birth parents; her grandsons, Justin and Devin; her sister, Alice Pierce; her aunt, Myrtle Goree; and her brother-in-law, Pat McIllece.
