Douglas Joe Andrews, 56, a resident of rural Donahue, Iowa died unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2014 in Rushville, Illinois.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge, Iowa.  Private family interment will take place on Monday at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

He was born in Davenport, Iowa on May 4, 1957, the son of Joseph Arthur & Sandra (Johnson) Andrews and was a 1975 graduate of North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa.  On June 12, 1982, he was united in marriage to Lynette E. Black in Moline, Illinois.

Doug was employed as a truck driver affiliated with the Teamsters Union Local 371 of Rock Island.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1975 to 1977 and was a member of the American Legion Post #381 of Lost Nation, Iowa.

Doug & Lynn loved to play golf and enjoyed playing euchre in their card club.  They also enjoyed attending auctions and watching NASCAR.  For many years, Doug portrayed Santa Claus at Southpark Mall in Moline.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Lynette; his daughter, Aimee (Jeff) Marple of Donahue; his son, Matthew (Abby) Andrews of Maysville, Iowa; his grandchildren, Anna Marie Marple and Blake & Madison Andrews; his mother, Sandra Charlan of Mount Joy, Iowa; two sisters; one brother; his parents-in-law, James & Delores Black of Davenport;  his sisters-in-law, Dee Dee (Mike) Kight of East Moline, Illinois and Janice Black of Davenport; his nieces, Kirsten Kearns of East Moline and Angie Kight of Moline; and his great-niece, Rylee Kight of Moline.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Joseph.
