Douglas S. Duda, 69, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died at his home on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 following an extended illness.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
He was born in Davenport on December 8, 1944, the son of James F. & Mildred M. (Steele) Duda. On July 12, 1975, he was united in marriage to Ginny K. Peeters at the St. Ambrose Chapel in Davenport.
Doug was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Viet Nam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1967.
He was employed for over 20 years with the former Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring several years ago. He was a member of the local Telephone Workers Union and the Musician’s Union.
Doug was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing bass guitar for many years with a variety of Quad-City area bands. He also was an avid golfer.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Ginny; his daughter, Carrie Duda of Zephyrhills, Florida; his son, Cliff Duda of Davenport; and his brothers, John Duda and Joe (Cathy) Duda, all of Bettendorf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mima Duda; and his brother, Jim Duda.
