Douglas L. Farmer, 59, of Davenport, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Memorials may be made to the family.
Doug was born January 5, 1953 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Charles Roy & Geraldine Joy (Steinmeyer) Farmer. He attended Silvis schools and United Township High School where he was an excellent basketball player. He was a 1979 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.
His hobbies included many outdoor sports including cycling, canoeing and gardening. Doug was a Master Angler fisherman and enjoyed trips to Manitoba with his son, brother and friends. He also enjoyed many ski trips to Colorado with his family and friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Brian Farmer of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Kaidence & Bennett; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry & Steve Michels of Osteen, Florida and Tammy & Craig Armstrong of Port Byron, Illinois; his brother and sister-in-law, Mark & Julie Farmer of Davenport; and his special friend, Denise Paustian of Davenport.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his dog, Charlie and his cat, Filio.
