Duane William Litscher, 88, a resident of Eldridge, formerly of Stanwood, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 07, 2015 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church or Heartland Hospice. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on January 22, 1927 in Davenport, Duane was the son of Ben and Emma (Dammann) Litscher. On August 10, 1948 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport, he married Marilyn S. Hamann. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1997.
Duane started farming in Eldridge and then moved to Stanwood, Iowa where he continued to farm for many years. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Scott County Pork Producers, Iowa Pork Producers, Scott County Farm Bureau, Stanwood Lions Club, Scott Buyers, Mississippi Valley Fair Board and Scott County Youth Board. He was a Master Pork Producer, 4-H Leader for Lincoln Township, Republican Delegate in Cedar County, Hospice Volunteer and he volunteered at the care center in Mechanicsville, Iowa.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Lisa (Calvin) Steward of Eldridge, Iowa; sons, David (Neva) Litscher of Stanwood, Iowa and Larry (Barb) Litscher of Dayton, Ohio; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dona Cawiezell of Eldridge, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
