Duane Gott

Duane Roger Gott, 83, a resident of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held on Saturday at Haines Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on October 27, 1932 in Centerville, Duane was the son of Charles and Marie (McGuire) Gott. In 1955 in Centerville, he married Beverly Kennedy.

Duane proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following the war, he was stationed in Salzburg, Austria. Duane retired from Ralston Purina in Davenport as a shift foreman. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, yardwork and woodworking and was an active member and volunteer at Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Beverly; daughters, Kathy (Mark) Hayman of Davenport, Teresa (Cliff) Lovell of Cocoa Beach, Florida and Vickie (Roy) Upshaw of Davenport; grandchildren, Matthew, Jamie, Tommy, Kimberly, Brandon and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Clayton, Parker, Tyler, Avree and Sawyer; sister, Patricia Kirschman of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers, Jerry (Elsie) Gott of Davenport, Marvin (Carolyn) Gott of Davenport and Donnie (Nancy) Gott of Longview, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rhonda Gott; brothers, Jimmy and Albert and a brother-in-law, Jim.
