Earl A. Cook, 76, of Davenport, died Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Davenport.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the service should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf by 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Earl was born on February 19, 1933 in Carbondale, Illinois, the son of Albert L. & Helen I. (Robinson) Cook. He was united in marriage to A. Shirley Kotowski in Baltimore, Maryland on February 7, 1957. Earl entered the United States Army in 1953 where he served in the 555th Engineers Group, 3rd Armored Division. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
He had been employed as an Assembler for John Deere Works for many years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Davenport and U.A.W. Local 434 in East Moline, Illinois. Earl enjoyed fishing and model building and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Dr. Brenda Cole of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Linda (Mark) Ruebling of Davenport; his son, Christopher (Johnna) Cook of Bettendorf; their mother, Shirley Cook of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Ryan Ruebling, Laura (Dustin) Ader, Zachary Cook & Alexander Cole; and his mother-in-law, Iris Kotowski, of Bettendorf.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Dorothy Ellis.
