Edna E. Downey, 91, of Bettendorf, and formerly of LeClaire, Iowa and Princeton, Iowa, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 19, 2006 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Thursday. Burial will in Jack’s Cemetery, LeClaire. Memorials may be made to the family.
Edna was born April 3, 1915 in Morrison, Illinois, the daughter of Charles & Nora (Howard) Brown. She was united in marriage to Arnold Downey on April 4, 1936 in Morrison. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1984.
Edna moved to Iowa in 1938 and resided in LeClaire for seventeen years. She then lived in Princeton for several years.
She was a member of the Navy Mother’s Club, a campfire leader for three years, and a Farm Bureau member for ten years.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl & David Helms of Shakopee, Minnesota, Marlene & Everett Radcliff of Princeton, and Darlene & Steve Radcliff of Princeton; her son, Arnold Downey; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; twelve brothers and sisters; and a great-granddaughter.
