Eduardo Torres

Eduardo Torres, 81, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Monday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to St. Jude Children’s Hospitals.

Eduardo was born August 29, 1935 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the son of Juan Valentin & Consuelo (Del Castillo) Torres.  He was united in marriage to Dolores Valderrama on May 2, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois.

He was employed for many years at Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf and prior to moving to Bettendorf, had worked with Brach’s Candy in Chicago.  He had been a server with Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for several years.

Eduardo enjoyed gardening, had managed the snackmobile with Bettendorf Little League for many years, and supported all youth activities, including track and field, with Bettendorf Parks.  He loved his family and friends and will be missed by them.

Those left to his memory include his wife, Dolores, his daughter, Martha (Eric) Bloomquist of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; his sons, James (Julie) Torres of Bettendorf and Rick (Leslie) Torres of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Ryan, Elena and Gabriella; his great-granddaughter, Elly; and his sister, Alicia of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
