Edward C. Beebinger

Edward Charles “Eddie” Beebinger, 90, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society of Scott County.

Eddie was born October 27, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Charles and Mildred (Ebner) Beebinger. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1951. Eddie served in the U.S Army during the Korean War stationed in Germany. On October 18, 1961, he married JoAnn Jess in Preston, Minnesota. He worked as an automotive mechanic at several GM, Buick, and Chevrolet dealerships. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he worked as a service manager at Eriksen Chevrolet, Milan, IL. Eddie kept busy after retirement working as an independent mechanic, especially for local Corvette enthusiasts. He was an all-around handyman, and enjoyed model airplanes, stock car racing, and NASCAR. He formed many long-lasting friendships in the racing community and with the various breakfast clubs he attended each week.

Those left to honor his memory are his daughter, Lisa (Doug) Hradek of Bettendorf; grandson, Eric (Grace Surma) Hradek of Windsor, Colorado; brother-in-law, Jerry Makoben of Davenport; sister-in-law, Barbara Cosby of Bettendorf; several nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friend, Jim Gerber of Davenport.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn in 2011, sister, Joan Moore, and sister-in-law, Judy Makoben.Special thanks to the staff at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, Iowa for their compassionate care of Eddie during the past year.
