Edward W. "Wild Bill" Elliott, 90, formerly of LeClaire, Iowa, died Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Aspen Rehabilitation and Health Care in Silvis, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Moline, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Bill was born March 2, 1924 in Brazil, Iowa, the son of Jack & Sarah (Phelps) Lewis. He was united in marriage to Mabel A. Fewell on June 14, 1942 in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2014.
Bill served in the United States Army from during World War II where he was an army medic. He retired from Alcoa in 1980 as maintenance foremen after 30 years. He was a member of the Silver Creek Lodge in LeClaire. Bill enjoyed making jewelry, gardening, restoring cars, and the company of his pets.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Sharon (Jeff) Hanson of Sherrard, Illinois and Linda (Guy) Jones of Sangar, Texas; two sons, Edward William “Bill” Elliott, Jr. of Princeton, Iowa and Darryl (Debbie) Elliott of LeClaire; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Kathlene Smith of Seymour, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, Mabel, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ethel Armstrong and Maxine Self; and his brother, Henry Elliott.
