Eileen M. Claussen, 92, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 st at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Davenport, Handicapped Development Center or the Iowa Masonic Health Facility Activity Fund.

Born on September 2, 1922 in Plainview, Iowa, Eileen was the daughter of Richard Earl and Anna (Frahm) Wakefield. On August 23, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri, she married Albert C. Claussen. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1975.

Eileen helped her husband on the family farm until his death. She then worked at the Tea Room at Petersen Harned-Von Maur and later for Marriott Food Service at St. Ambrose University. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Davenport, Pythian Sisters of Eldridge, Scott County Farm Bureau, Liedertafel and Bettendorf Senior Citizens. Eileen enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards, and singing and was well known for her chocolate chip cookies. She was an active member of the Silver Bells group while at the Iowa Masonic Home.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Beverly Kluever of Geneseo, Illinois, Marjorie Warrington of Davenport and Janice (Wayne) Siebke of Milan; sons, Dick Claussen of Eagle Grove, Iowa and Clifford (Nancy) Claussen of Davenport; 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Claussen and Jackie Wakefield, both of Bettendorf and Bev Wakefield of El Cajon, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Steven; grandson, David Claussen; sisters, Elvira, Velma and Ellen; and brothers, Orville, Aaron, Darrell and Dallas.

Eileen’s family wishes to thank the Iowa Masonic Home and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care given to her.
