Eileen Devol

August 22, 1936 — April 19, 2020

Eileen V. DeVol, 83, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at her residence.

Private family services will be held at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eileen was born on August 22, 1936 in Bettendorf, the daughter of William and Eileen Virginia (Schriefer) Marten.  On August 28, 1954 she married Nelson H. DeVol in Bettendorf.  Eileen worked for 15 years at Metropolitan Medical Labs in Davenport.  She enjoyed drawing and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.  Eileen also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.  She supported her son and grandson in dirt track racing, and was their biggest fan.  She will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Nelson DeVol of Davenport; children, Kathie (Herbie) Atwood of Bettendorf, Judy (Joe) Bertram of Ankeny, Iowa, Gary (Theresa) DeVol of Rockford, Illinois, James “Curt” (Lisa) DeVol of Davenport, Barbara (Billy) Haussmann of Davenport, Michael (Susie) DeVol of Davenport, Mark (Tammy) DeVol of Muscatine, Iowa, Glynn DeVol of Davenport; sister, Myra; brothers, Hal and  Glynn; step- sister, Nancy; son-in-law, Jeff Davis; 29 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barb Lang; brother-in-law, Jim DeVol.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Debbie Skipton and Linda Davis; two grandchildren, James and Samantha; a great-grandson, Foster; sisters, Carol and Helen; and brothers, Van, Jack, and Larry.
