Eileen C. Grigals, 77, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at Trinity Bettendorf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. A Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12 th followed by visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Born on January 24, 1938 in Ottawa, Illinois, Eileen was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Bayuk) Stehle. On July 6, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Moline, she married Albert Grigals.
Eileen was a graduate of Alleman High School and Marycrest College. In her earlier years, Eileen worked as a teacher for various schools in the area, beginning in Rockford, Illinois. She was a homemaker and was a substitute teacher with Davenport schools for a number of years. She later worked as a church secretary for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for 25 years. Eileen enjoyed baking, traveling, reading, shopping and family gatherings. She cherished her time spent with family and expressed acts of kindness to everyone.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Albert Grigals, Sr.; children, Janet (Steve) Mueller of Mission Viejo, California, Albert Grigals, Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin, Cathy (Dave) Kossler of Mesa, AZ, Anne Grigals (Karina Sandweg) of Christchurch, New Zealand and Laura (Kevin) Grigals-Knoot of Dana Point, California; grandchildren, Kristen, Rachel, Patrick, Michael, Brian and Hilde; sister, Mary (Bill) Vancura of Rock Island; brother, Joe Stehle of Moline; sister-in-law, Lili (Clarence) Darrow of Rock Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Stehle; and her goddaughter, Jennifer Darrow.
