Eileen C. Mertl, 88, of East Moline, formerly of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2012 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 12, 2012 at Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island. Her remains will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, next to her husband, Albert, who passed away in January 2010. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf has assisted the family with arrangements.
Born on February 16, 1924 in Syracuse, NE, she was the daughter of Fred and Louise (Reuter) Helm. On December 15, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI, she married Albert Mertl.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Mary (Sarabacha) Hartman of East Moline and Linda Wennerstrom of Bloomington, MN; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
