Elaine C. Hamilton, 87, a resident of LeClaire, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2013 at Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Presbyterian Church.
Elaine was born on February 11, 1926 in Davenport, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna (VanEvera) Bonnell. On February 5, 1946 at the Summit Church, she married Howard L. “Howdy” Hamilton. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1997.
Elaine helped run the family farm in LeClaire for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Elaine enjoyed bird watching, especially eagles. She was a 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. Elaine was an active member of Our Savior Presbyterian Church.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Steve (Dawn) Hamilton of LeClaire; daughters, Janice (Mark) Carpenter of Ft. Dodge, Becky Hamilton of St. Paul, MN and Kathy (Kathy Burkhardt) Hamilton of Ft. Madison; eight grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Kristin, Jodi, Seth, Mason, Kimmi and Gavin; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edna Cannon of Bettendorf; niece Debbie Cannon of Moline.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Henrietta, Dorothy and Elizabeth; one brother, John.
