Elaine C. Riexinger, a resident of Rock Island, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Amber Ridge Memory Care. Elaine’s battle with Alzheimer’s has ended, she has joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Let’s celebrate her life and homecoming!
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation.
Elaine was born in Davenport, Iowa on Oct. 16, 1954 to Clarice and William (Bill) Fisher. She attended Davenport public schools, graduating from Central High School in 1973. The Fisher family were dedicated members of Grandview Baptist Church and Elaine gave her life to Christ at an early age. Elaine met Steve Riexinger in church youth group and they dated throughout high school. They were married on June 23, 1973.
Elaine worked as a dental assistant until the birth of their second child. She was a homemaker, homeschool teacher, heirloom seamstress, needle worker, and church librarian. She returned to work and school after the children were grown, earning her Bachelor degree and then her MBA. Elaine was a lifelong learner and enjoyed research and reading.
Heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Amber Ridge Memory Care. They enabled Elaine to end her days with grace and dignity while loving her as their own.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by: her husband Steve Riexinger; children Molly Washington and Colin Riexinger; grandchildren Raeleigh Washington and Sylas Riexinger; siblings Denise (John) Van Norman, Jim Fisher, Gloria (Mark) Stegmaier, Harold (Delane) Fisher, and Irene Novak, and numerous nephews and nieces.
