Elaine Schroeder

Elaine R. Schroeder, 92, of Walcott and formerly of Davenport, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 10, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Elaine was born December 20, 1924 in Donahue, Iowa, the daughter of Henry & Elfreida (Erps) Voelkers.  She was united in marriage to Leslie J. Schroeder on January 24, 1946 in Davenport.  He preceded her in death on February 2, 2000.

Elaine had been employed for many years with the Davenport School District.  She enjoyed the casinos, bowling and playing bingo.  Elaine was a life-time member of Northwest Turner Women’s Auxiliary, a member of the Elk’s Club and the Moose Lodge. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters Jo Faris and Lori (James Sr.) Thompson, all of Davenport; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Andrea (James), Jennifer and James Jr.(Katie); five great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Leslie, Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
